Across the nation, local governments are responding to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases. As hospitals deal with surges in new patients, once again parking garages are being transformed into care centers. In fact, Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada opened their converted makeshift COVID-19 ward late last week.

The project, which was first planned back in April, took 10 days to complete and cost an estimated $10 million. With the support of their new ward, the hospital can accommodate 1,400 more COVID patients than before.
